It was a hectic summer traveling to promote Finding Martha’s Vineyard: African Americans at Home on an Island, but fun and rewarding. It's always a pleasure to meet and talk with readers! Whether in Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta or Martha's Vineyard, my readers are always talkative, inquisitive and welcoming. Thanks to all of you who came to events, emailed, or boldly knocked on the door of our house on Martha's Vineyard to tell me what you thought about the book and ask for a signature. Your support and enthusiasm are truly appreciated.

I want you to know that I am planning a Writer's Retreat, “Finding Your Voice, Expressing Your Passion”, for 10-12 women at my beach house on Martha's Vineyard in July 2006. It will be four nights and five days of creativity, hard work, relaxation, nurture and fun. This will be an intensive writing workshop in the morning and afternoon, with dessert and coffee on the porch as we continue the discussion or welcome fabulous guest writers. The workshop is an opportunity to discover, discuss and experiment with getting in touch with our individual voices so that we can confidently write our passion in fiction or non-fiction.
